Jason Balgopal

Jason Balgopal is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, and an Ontario lawyer, who was called to the bar in 1999. He has been practicing exclusively in criminal law since 2003, and has been an Assistant Crown Attorney in the Scarborough Crown Attorneys’ office since 2004. He has appeared in all levels of court in Ontario, and has conducted all manner of prosecutions, including murder trials and a dangerous offender application.

He is a member of the Elder Abuse Consultation Team (EACT) in Toronto and has presented many times on the topic of Elder Abuse. He is also a member of the Scarborough Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee (HSJCC) which helps to coordinate the various services offered by different organizations to a diverse population.

He has also been challenged by depression and anxiety. By using a variety of supports, including therapy, medication, and peer support, he was able to get into a “better head space”. He has presented a number of times to the Law Society of Ontario and the Ministry of the Attorney General about mental wellness. In 2015, he started the Mental Wellness Peer Support groups which offer anyone with, or supporting someone with, a mental wellness challenge a safe place to unburden themselves in the company of like-minded people, and receive feedback in the form of empathy or real-life best-practices which have worked for others. The groups also offer regular members access to free professional therapy with a licenced therapist.

Lisa Franco Alexander

Lisa Alexander is an author, educator, estrangement advocate, and the founder of Heart’s Renewal. She serves as the facilitator of Still Whole Circle, a peer-to-peer support group for estranged parents and alienated grandparents.
As both an estranged parent and alienated grandparent, Lisa understands firsthand the profound grief, confusion, and isolation that family estrangement can bring. Her personal journey led her to devote years to studying the psychology of estrangement, family relationships, grief, trauma, and healing.
Lisa is a certified Master Life Coach and NLP Practitioner with specialized training in trauma-informed coaching, estrangement psychology, grief and loss, EFT Tapping, Ho’oponopono, and Reiki. She is also an estrangement advocate, educator, and author of multiple books exploring family estrangement, grandparent alienation, intergenerational relationships, ambiguous grief, disenfranchised grief, chronic loss, and emotional healing.
Through her writing, education, advocacy, and support work, Lisa has become a respected voice within the estrangement community, particularly in the areas of grandparent alienation, parent–adult child estrangement, and After Marriage In-Law Alienation (AMILA).
While Still Whole Circle is not a coaching, counseling, or advice-giving space, Lisa brings both lived experience and extensive training to the creation of a safe, compassionate environment where participants can be heard without judgment and supported by others who truly understand.
Lisa is deeply inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi—the art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Rather than hiding the fractures, Kintsugi honors them as part of an object’s history and beauty. This philosophy reflects the heart of Still Whole Circle: that even after life’s deepest fractures, we remain worthy, valuable, and whole.
Her guiding belief is simple:You are still whole.
