Leigh Balgopal

Leigh is Vice-President, Legal for a major commercial landlord in Canada.  She leads the legal teams in Central, East and Western Canada. Leigh has over 20 years of experience representing both tenants and landlords in commercial leasing transactions, both retail and office, and has expertise in leasing for mixed use developments. In the past she practiced law at The Bank of Nova Scotia, in the Real Estate Department, where she practiced primarily in commercial leasing across Canada and in the English-speaking Caribbean. Leigh holds an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Trent University. Leigh has previously served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Centre 55 (community centre in Toronto), President and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Thornecliffe Day Care, and is currently a member of the Lands Committee of the Board of Governors for Trent University.  Leigh spent two years in Saudi Arabia from the ages of 8-10 and during this time, she traveled throughout Asia, Africa, and Australia, before returning to Toronto. In 2019, Leigh spent six weeks in Colombia, studying Spanish and immersing herself in the culture.

Lorraine Sheffield

A trustworthy and energetic administrator with 15+ years of experience, Lorraine is focused on supporting senior executives accomplish and exceed their targeted goals and objectives. Throughout her career she has worked with innovative and notable senior management teams at high-profile Canadian not-for-profit and private organizations such as Corus Entertainment, Rogers, UHN and the OMA.

Along with advanced technical skills, she brings proven ability and passion for supporting, communicating and promoting an organization’s Vision, Values and Mission.

Catherine Rodd

Catherine is a retired communications executive having worked in magazine journalism, television production and a variety of communications roles in the not-for-profit sector for over 40 years. She brings her communications expertise to the board as well as compassion and concern for anyone dealing with mental health issues in our current patch-work of services. She also believes that the strength of peer-support can’t be overstated and should be expanded so that more people can benefit from its unique place in the fabric of care.

Marcel Parsons

Marcel is a seasoned real estate executive with nearly two decades of experience driving strategic growth and delivering strong financial performance across both public and private sectors. Recognized for deep expertise in portfolio strategy, asset management, real estate valuation, and analytics. Proven leader of high-performing, cross-functional teams with a track record of executing innovative investment strategies that generate long-term value. Currently leads the Asset Strategy team at First Capital REIT, overseeing asset strategy, portfolio optimization, valuations, and joint venture management. In addition to professional responsibilities, currently serves on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters Toronto and the Makin Foundation, reflecting a strong commitment to community leadership and social impact.
